Hurricanes and flooding can have a real impact on property values, especially in flood-prone areas.  Due to FEMA's 50% rule, many property owners are forced to make tough decisions about whether to renovate (if possible), rebuild, or even sell their property simply for the lot/land value.   Journalist Jonathan Petramala takes a closer look at this issue and interviews Realtor Bobby Poth in St. Petersburg, Florida.

When goverment shutdowns happen, the real estate market can take a hit.  The government shutdown in October 2025 had a real impact on many home buyers and sellers, especially those trying to obtain flood insurance.  Since many homeowners could not renew or bind new flood insurance policies through FEMA, they were forced to either delay the process or bind a private policy, which can often be much more expensive.  WTSP Channel 10 Reporter Andy Paden takes a closer look at this issue and interviews Tampa Bay Realtor Bobby Poth.
